Things they don't teach you in CCD

A long weekend of spring cleaning, Easter visiting, and a milestone birthday lays before me and the rest of the Chicky Family. My head is spinning with the overwhelming lists in my head, lists I make in order to keep my mind tidy and, therefore, help me execute the catalogue of tasks that accompany Holidays and Birthdays in seemingly effortless style (Ha!). So instead of a real post, and because lists seem to be the theme of the week, I will instead run down some of the important things I have recently learned.

- Even though my cat is horribly overweight (her nickname: Jaba the Cat), she can still run faster than I when making a bee-line for the open patio door while carrying a live garden snake in her mouth.

- Garden snakes hate being picked up with disposable diapers. (Hey, it was clean.)

- As a born and raised New Englander I am still amazed at how aloof some people in this region of the country can be, even when you are walking within 10 feet of them pushing a baby carriage. No hello, no smile, nothing. Hey Neighbor, its not like I'm expecting you to ooh and aah over my freakin' baby. What? You can't even nod to one of your neighbors? Fine, just don't come to me when you need to borrow a cup of sugar. Or when some random dog takes a dump on your front lawn.

- I am a fortunate woman that I have friends of different faiths who will talk openly and earnestly about religion with me on beautiful spring mornings and then let the subject drift over to the merits of a good honey ham on Easter. And that was with my Jewish friends.

- With Wednesday's Queen tribute by the American Idol contestants beaten into an unrecognizable pulp, I think its safe to say that AI has not only jumped the shark, but said shark is currently picking its teeth with the shards of their talentless water skis. Okay, bad metaphor.

- On the topic of television, if you're not watching "The New Adventures of Old Christine" then you're missing out on some funny shit.

- Its really, really hard not to scream "Fuck!" in front of your impressionable child after you've stubbed your naked toe on the corner of the dining room table. It comes out sounding more like "Fuuucdgeggaaah", which doesn't make your foot feel any better and, really, its a little insulting to your bruised toe.

- You can spend $200 on new workout clothes, but you actually have to workout to make that muffin top go away. Lesson leaned: Shopping = fun. Crunches = suck.

- Chicky Baby has a serious career as a rockstar ahead of her. Or, at least as a Pink Lady.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Easter from one pink lady to another.

I love the "new adventures of old christine"... did you see "watching ellie" when that was on for like 5 minutes a couple years ago? I was so mad when they took that off the air! Love that Julia!

She is just beautiful!! Great post, too. As a fellow New Englander, I know what you mean about the lack of hello's. I never realize it until I visit another part of the country.

Beautiful Baby Girl!!!

I've never been to New England. But here in the Pacific NW, we have a lot of friendly old people. But everyone else is just kind of grumpy. Maybe they're all Navy people from New England....

Oooh, I hate trying to "not" curse in front of The Kids. You can end up with some pretty funky pseudo-swear words trying to do that....

Chicky Baby is an absolute doll!
I'm a fellow New Englander, from MA too...displaced below the Mason Dixon Line..I was lucky. The only time I was met with any type of grumpiness was in Boston...during work hours. :)
I've made up more words trying not to curse in front of my girls...now I've resorted to just grunting.

What a gorgeous girl you have!!! She's beautiful. I will have to check out "The New Adventures ... " I do really like Julia Louis-Dreyfus a lot, I just am not one to start watching new sitcoms. But on your recommendation I'll invest 1/2 an hour!

And I feel very sorry to admit that I have to agree with you on AI, about the whole shark jumping thing. Although next season's contestants could be better, thus making the show ... um ... un-jump the shark?

I thought that aloof thing was just Southern California. I am surprised to learn it is everywhere.

I am forever saying "Excuse me" or "pardon me" to people who look at me either like 1) they can see no person there or 2) there is a completely insane lunatic in front of them.

Awwww...the pink lady is so dang cute with those glasses! And I blurted out a doozy of a swear word today when someone wouldn't let me merge and my daughter, in her infinite wisdom, offered me a kid-friendly alternative.

PS: I'm closing Moonshine soon. Don't forget to update your Blogroll with my new address :)

I'm forever worried about exposing my muffin top. Maybe if I had some cute new workout clothes I'd be inspired.

Little Pinky Chicky Baby is a total sweetie!

Oh my goodness you had me laughing about the toe! Then the shopping/workout commentary? Ooohhh.. I'm right there with you on that one.

Absolutely ADORABLE Chicky Baby! That second pic is frameable. But with her cutie pie face, I'm guessing you already have a ton of framed pics. ;)

Love the pics, the last one is fabulous!

BTW I just finished the Meme you gave to me :)

Your daughter is adorable! What pretty blue eyes.

As for AI, I think next week's theme is the collected works of Rod feakin' Stewart. If Taylor sings "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" I will have to poke my own eyes out.

You may be my new hero for picking up a garden snake with a diaper!!!

Oh and pink lady couldn't be any cuter :)

So if Queen means AI has jumped the shark, wouldn't logic dictate that Rod Stewart on AI is one of the final signs of the apolcalypse?

Chicky Baby has goregous eyes. Pink is her color.

Wait...are you actually telling me that the Seinfeld curse is lifted? That one of the fab four has actually made a decent series? Wow, I might just have to check it out. Not sure if I believe you, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

I'm with you on the neighbor thing. When we were living in the Hollywood Hills, I'd never encountered a more unfriendly bunch. Everyone was too busy talking to their agents on their cell phones and counting their money to even acknowledge anyone who wasn't kissing their ass.

We live in a more suburban area now, and when we moved in, neighbors actually brought BAKED GOODS over. Now that's my kind of neighborhood.

NOW I know what I've been doing wrong! I thought if I bought all those books, pills, DVD's and memberships I would just AUTOMATICALLY drop the pounds. You mean I actually have to UTILIZE them? Crap!

Babies and puppies in large sunglasses are my weakness. I am helpless against the cuteness.

If you pull your work-out pants up high enough, the muffin top magically disappears.
p.s.
Chicky Baby is a sweetpea!

I live near boston and I'm with you on the unfriendliness thing. I find it so strange, it's like people are afraid I'll bite them, or something. My parents lived in West Virginia briefly and people were noticably more friendly.

I'm going to check out that show. Thanks!
