From the list of hundreds of names you all suggested, plus a few we already had picked, we're narrowing down the possible names. This is where we are today.
Sorry about the crap picture. I was bending over the counter and we all know what it's like when a pregnant woman has to bend. There's comedy, there's high comedy, and then there's a pregnant woman in her ninth month trying to bend.
Feel free to vote for your favorite. Or not. Whatever. If I let every little thing keep me up at night I would never sleep. Oh wait, I'm not sleeping as it is.
Chicky has already named the baby. Too bad she's outvoted by me and... me. Mr. C is inclined to agree with Chicky but that's just because he's been coaching her. Bastard. So glad I procreated with the guy.

Avery or Emily!
Emily Jordan has a nice ring if you're looking for both names from the list.
But they're all pretty!
Good Luck!
I like Sara, but then, I'm prejudiced...
Emily is nice, too...
I'm personally partial to Emily and Maggie. :-)
I vote for Avery
They are all beautiful names, really! I am inclined towards Cecilia or Avery.
OY! That line through Phoebe is like a knife in my heart. Just wait til I show you what a Phoebe looks like. You'll reconsider. ..
Where's Rachel on that list? ;)
I must say, I have a soft spot in my heart for the name Maggie.
Huz and I like Phoebe but are worried about the damn Friends thing. I don't need to hear "Oh, like from Friends" every time we say her name (not that we know it's a her...).
Love Caroline and Cecilia, personally.
Carolyn is my Mother-in-Law, in case that says anything. Heh.
Sara
I vote cecilia.
Avery! Gorgeous.
Go with "Emily" and I can tell my wife that you named your daughter after her :}
I love Cecilia!
Great names!!
1. Avery
2. Caroline
3. Maggie
I suppose if you aren't going to use my first name, I can accept having my middle name be her first name.
And neither she nor I need no stinkin' "H" on the end.
Sara. You can use Devra for the middle name. I'm cool with that too.
Caroline Grace
I know Grace isn't one of the listed choices, but it just GOES with Caroline. Sweet Caroline...
Maggie. :)
"Cecilia, you're breaking my heart
You're shaking my confidence daily
Oh, Cecilia, I'm down on my knees
I'm begging you please to come home"
Why not?
I do like Avery though. At the end of the day, though, she's your daughter. The choice is ultimately yours. :)
My opinion, for what it's worth: I like Cecilia the best. Avery and Jordan and Emily are so popular right now that she'll be going to school with at least 2 each.
Cecilia is my top choice, followed by Maggie and Caroline.
I like Maggie and Sara. (Although I prefer Margaret and Sarah, if you care, but you probably don't.)
I can't remember what Chicky's name is (or have you not used it online?)
Not that names have to match, but sometimes with names I think about if they go together.
I know quite a few Averys and Emilys within a year of her, if that matters to you, from most of the way across the US.
As a Julie, my chief criteria for a name is always "Not effing in the top ten of any list other than rarely used names."
Not sure if you care.
Despite my Bobby Sherman PTSD I'd go for Caroline or Cecilia because those are two of the best songs evah. :)
But the bottom line is that is one list of lovely, lovely names. I honestly like them all.
Really what a lot of very lovely names. I tend to feel you know when you look into the whites of their (or should we say newborn blackness) of their eyes.
It is really happening now, isn't it?
ps.. we took down our crib today after almost 4 years and 2 babies I am a bit weepy to say the least.
i like emily, and i also liked the suggestion of emily jordan together. in fact, jordan goes well as a middle name with most of those. :)
Cecelia! No doubt about it. It's such a lovely name. And it even has good nicknames associated with my.
I also love Cecily, but that's because I have the most wonderful friend named Cecily.
Oliver's name was going to be Cecilia (when we thought he was a girl). So that's definitely my favorite
And I like Jordan too, but I couldn't get past the idea that my child would have the same full name as a department store.
Oh. I love Avery - but I left it out of my recommendations because I want some level of originality left for the name if I ever get to reproduce. Wah!
I first heard the name Avery on the TV show Murphy Brown. I loved it... and because I realized that I spent so much time in Avery Hall (the building that housed the journalism college) in college that it could hold meaning for me.
sigh.
I also like Sara. That's a good classic standard.
And I love the character in 'A Little Princess'.
Cecilia is also one of my holdouts. Though I prefer Celia. The one Cecilia that I know absolutely hates that song. BTW.
But I also like that her nickname can be CeeCee. Cute.
again, good luck!
My fav from your list is Emily Caroline!!! I think those two names sound GREAT together!! It sounds very classy and will grow with her into adulthood!!
I love the names Cecilia and Maggie. I like old-fashioned names that you don't hear as much anymore. Avery is BEAUTIFUL (I have loved that name since it was on "Murphy Brown," oh I'm so old) but it's very popular right now.
Okay, it's not because I'm Australian and the name Maggie conjures up all sorts of "The Thorn Birds" connotations, but I have always loved that name :)
Alrighty,
They're all very nice names but you have to watch out for popularity for a lot of them.
Emily has been no.1 in the states for the last 10 years, Caroline/Carolyn has been in the top 100 for over 10 years, Sara and Jordan has been in the top 100 for over 15 years. Avery is also very popular, and is just outside being in the top 50.
Maggie is sweet and not popular yet, but it would be important to note it jumped in popularity by over 20 from 2005-2006 which indicates it'll get very popular.
Cecilia is a safe choice, and a very lovely name.
I generally suggest to stay out of the top 100 if you can try.

I suppose I'm wishy washy, but I like them all. Pick one that has some meaning for you, that's the only suggestion I have. Sorry!
Clearly I am voting for Sara.
I think you picked some great names there, Mrs C. I am partial to Cecelia,Caroline, and Jordan, because those three names were on my short list for both my daughters.
I love the name Maggie! It's too bad my husband's family has this tradition about J names, or that is what we would probably name our daughter (if we ever have one).
I love Caroline...Very pretty.
I can't believe it's almost time already...(I know "already", like I've been you for the past nine months...)
Caroline or Carolyn. Very pretty and traditional.
They're all beautiful. How I narrowed down was by picking names I knew my kids could sound out when it came time for kindergarten. ;) Incidentally, my daughter's middle name is Cecelia (we spell it slightly differently as you can see ;)
I figure when you meet your wee one the name will come to you...
It took us a week to name Scooter after she was born...
We needed a name that suited her....
And not a name for name's sake..
ok, so you have my little one's name on your list. you also have my other name should i ever decide to go for the second, and that is MAGGIE. though i would probably use either Margaret or Margeaux and call her MAGGIE.
have you thought of Celia, just a slight variation of Cecilia?
seriously, we have so many names in common that i really wonder what chicky's name is! i am sure it is something just as sweet.
Avery or Cecilia :)
Ummmm where is Katie on that list? Or Snuffleupagus for that matter?
Leaning towards Cecilia and Emily (which is nothing like a leaning 9mth pregger chick leaning on a counter - it's less dangerous and a whole lot less hysterical).
Oh and lovin' Maggie. Lovin' it.
I like Jordan, Avery, Sara, & Emily. I think she would outgrow the name Maggie.
I vote for Avery of Cecilia.
As the mother of an almost-five-year-old Avery, I have to say that it is becoming quite popular. When the husband and I picked it five years ago we had NEVER heard of a girl named Avery (it's traditionally a boys name). But as soon as she was born, they were popping up everywhere. It really kind of annoys me because I wanted my daughter to have a semi-unusual (yet still recognizable) name, not a trendy, top-ten name. Nonetheless, I still love the name. :)
I do love Avery, but as the person above mentioned, it is growing in popularity. I really like Maggie, but wonder if she shouldn't have a long form? Magritte, or Margot, perhaps?
Obvs, my vote is for SARA! It means "princess", you know...
My vote is for Jordan. Good luck!
obviously, since i have an emily, i'm partial to that choice ;)
Caroline or Carolyn. Only because either would go well with Chicky's real name.
doesn't Rod Stewart have a song about Maggie? hmm...
I really love Avery... maybe it's because it's my sister's favorite girl-name so it's been drummed into my head... but either way, I love it... :)
Good luck choosing!
ps - my gramma's name is Carolyn - so I'm a fan of it... and I have a cousin named Jordyn Mackenzie (obviously hers is spelled a bit differently than the norm... but it was cute when she was born 12 years ago) not that any of that really matters to you :)
I think you have a great short list there!
I quite like Avery and Caroline but personally would avoid Jordan because (a) I have a thing about girls with masculine names and (b) all I can think of is the british "glamour" (aka topless) model/tabloid celeb named Jordan. Eeeeeeek!
Caroline or Avery!
And here is my two cents - I work in the school and they are FILLED with Emilys and Saras. Too many in fact. WAY. To. Many. I really like Cecilia and Avery. Good luck and best wishes!!
love, love, LOVE Jordan!
I think you and I have the same counter-top.
The Bug would have been Caroline if I'd had my way, so I'm voting for Caroline.
Cecilia. My 6-year old niece has a 6-year-old friend named Cecilia and they call her "Ceci", like SESS-ee. It's adorable.
My Maggie is the only Maggie in her school of more than 300- and as I chose it for my own little girl, I am QUITE partial. In short: Maggie's a girl who can hang.
As an educator, unless you want her to be one of 5 girls who turns her head when someone says "Emily," stick with a name that's not in the top 10.
LOVE Cecilia- it was on our short list as well. Funny thing about Maggie and Cecilia, both are imortalized in song by being heartbreakers.
My favorite Maggie song is by Colin Hay "When I first set eyes on you/First you beat me up,
Then you kissed me too.
We'd throw stones into the sea/There were no others there/Just you and me."
First you beat me up- does that sound like childbirth or what?
Like Rod's version, the affair ends in heartache, but she's worth it :)
Here's the vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qCBvWKLv_4
I dare you not to blubber like a wee baby when you watch it.
Avoid names that work for a boy or a girl...I know one of each for Avery and Jordan...
Maggie is beautiful. That would be my top pic.
I'm trying to get preggers now and if I am and its a girl we're going with Gabrielle Tru with my hubbie's hard to pronounce Italian last name it'll be a mouthful but we like it.
Even though I said I was ambivalent about it, Cecilia still has a spot close to my heart since it was the main contender were we to have had a girl. So that's my vote.
I love Maggie (and Meg as a backup)- but would you actually use Maggie or Margaret?
I love Sara, but she will always have to fight the with an h/without an h issue.
Also, if you use Caroline you can pronounce it "lin" or "line". If you want that flexibility I would go with that over "lyn".
But I like Maggie best.
My son's name is Jordan.
I vote Maggie
I love all of them! You could have eight more daughters. No?
Some how when I read the list, I could picture you with a daughter named Caroline. Don't know what that means but I felt compelled to write it down.
I love a ton of those names and yes, I am a name freak. My vote (which I know doesn't count) would probably be for Jordan, because it's gotten less popular.
Funny but my favorite on the list is Phoebe.
Girls names are easy. I'm trying to help name my nephew with no luck. His daddy seems to think all names suck.
Caroline.
Did I mention I have a daughter, Caroline?
But there's always Ruth.
Am I late?
Avery is nice.
But so is Emily.
But...Maggie is good too...
