Me: "Well, for instance, we really need to put aside a certain dollar amount for things like kids clothes. They're both growing like crazy it's hard to keep up. I'm just glad that C.C. can wear most of Chicky's old baby clothes."
Him (nodding but barely listening): "Mmm hmmm."
Me: "And we need to be tough on how much money we spend on wine. No more stopping on the way home from work and picking up a random bottle. We need to be tough about that. I think wine should fall under 'Entertainment'."
Him (perking up): "Can't we put that under 'Medication'? I mean, that's what it is, isn't it??"
Me: "You know I'm totally going to blog that, right?"
Him (lost in thought): "I wonder if we can leverage my Flexible Spending Account for that?"
Theoretically, if medicinal marijuana would be covered because of the possession of a prescription, all you need to do is get your doctor to write you a note for a case of merlot.

ReplyDeleteYes, I think medication makes it seem much more required. Plus, if you're trimming budget, you're unlikely to try and scrimp on medications, right> I mean, that is not optional.

ReplyDeleteWhat about gallon jugs of boxed wine? Or, just turn the thermostat down this winter, throw an extra layer of clothes on the kids, and warm yourself with a nice bottle of red. Sounds like you just need to reallocate more dollars to 'entertainment'. ; )
ReplyDeleteI put wine up there with Oxygen... its a non-negotiable in our house. And you need to have both types on hand at all times!
ReplyDeleteOne does not mess with the alcohol fund. It's practically required. And just think, pretty soon, wine will be less expensive that the oil that will be needed to heat your house. Actually, it probably is already cheaper.
