Just another day at the house of Chicky:
Sunday morning, Chicky is nearly comatose in front of the TV watching her favorite movie of all time - Monsters Inc.
"Should she really be this into a movie?"
"Look at her, she's fine. She's better than fine. She's sitting on a couch that in relation to her body is huge. She's munching Cheerios from a bag and she's watching a cartoon. I don't think she could be any more fine."
"I suppose she does look happy."
"She won't be this happy again until she's in college and stoned..."
"... Crashed on a couch, munching cheerios from a bag and watching a cartoon?"
"Funny how it all comes full circle, huh?"
Hehe - my boys are crazy about Monsters Inc too. I can never figure out how they can sit still for a whole movie like that, but have to get up every 5 minutes when we have dinner...
ReplyDeleteHas anyone listened to the soundtrack backwards? Strange things are afoot with that movie - both of my kids unhinge their jaws and go off into another world when that comes on.....
ReplyDeleteit's the ciiiiiiiircle of liiiiiiiiiife
ReplyDeleteand it mmoooooovesss uuss allllll
Only instead of that bottle of milk it'll be beer?
ReplyDeleteCircle of Life, indeed.
ReplyDeleteheh heh
Hell, I was doing that until I found out I was pregnant... now I get to watch B do it and I don't think I'll get to enjoy it again until she goes off to University. So I will assume mine is less of a circle and more of a line with a bump(er).
ReplyDeleteoh that was priceless....in college stoned... I Love it.
ReplyDeleteIt is rather lovely how life comes full circle like that. Too funny.
ReplyDeleteI guess that explains the paranoia so many parents have when it comes to giving their kids too much TV.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I was partial to pie on the couch in college, but Cheerios would probably have worked in a pinch.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm. . . Cheerios would never have cut it for me. Cheetos? Ahhh, now you're talking.
ReplyDeleteOr Doritos. Is there any part of the 4 food groups in those?
ReplyDeleteoh come now. Cheetos, Doritos ... whatever. If it's sitting around and edible did you really care? I still fondly remember an Eggo waffle, peanut butter and chocolate ice cream sandwich ... I didn't even care that it was a blueberry waffle.
ReplyDeleteMmmm ... college ... so much time, so few responsibilities.
i love full circle.
ReplyDeleteI think if we've lucky it's college. If not so lucky it'd be jr high or high school the circle of life comes full circle. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteGod bless toddlerhood for preparing them for the really important years!
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it, but in college I had stoned-worthy munchies without the stoned part--did I just use the past tense--pay no attention to the empty bag of Cheetos in the trashcan.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, now that I am a responsible adult and mother I realize that pot is quaint, but prescription drugs rock. Ambien I love you!!
Monsters Inc is the only movie that WB has ever gotten into. Needless to say, that DVD is getting a bit worn out.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, they *do* look a bit like college-aged stoners when they slump on the sofa with their cereals, watching crap on the TV screen. S'beautiful, no?
Except it probably won't be cheerios...it'll be Cheetos followed by Ben and Jerry's followed once again by something salty, salt and vinegar chips, perhaps? (Not that I'd know anything about pot-induced munchies...ahem)
ReplyDeleteOh dear. Maybe the two hours in front of the TV this morning while I snoozed wasn't such a hot idea. I mean, she may be a genius and all, but I don't think she's quite ready for COLLEGE yet, y'know?
ReplyDeleteOMG I never thought of it that way! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteTwo words about the munchies: Pop Tarts. Hands down, the. best. snack. ever.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't worry about Monsters Inc. I can recite Finding Nemo, Monsters, and a few others.
It's scary actually. Funny and scary...:)
ReplyDeleteI never realized that utter contentment they have when they snack and watch Shrek will be repeated at college, possibly with a few more chemicals involved. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Though I do hope that by the time they're in college they have graduated from Cheerios to something really wonderful, like Kettle Chips.
ReplyDeleteThat is the truth!!
ReplyDeleteI'm all about camping out on the couch, munching on cereal and drooling over a cartoon.
ReplyDeleteBut I never inhaled.
I swear.
