Have you ever tried to scrape your car windshield with an iPod? I don't recommend it.

There once was a time when my handy ice scraper was a cassette tape holder.

Yes siree, I cleared a lot of windows with that clear plastic box that once held my copy of Def Leppard Hysteria.

You would think I would have gotten myself a real, honest to goodness ice scraper with the harsh bristle brush on the other end, but you would be wrong. [Continue reading at May We Recommend...]

  1. Oh the memories! I too have improvised with scraping mechanisms... CD's work good too but they break easier.

  4. Haha...

My neighbor, when we lived in England, came out and saw me (heavily pregnant) scraping my windshield, and laughed.

Then said, "this is quicker" and threw HOT WATER on his windscreen.

I laughed later that day when the windscreen repairmen showed up at his house.

No, I didn't bother to tell him that would happen -- you learn a thing or two when you learn to drive in Michigan!

  6. OK, I'm sorry your dog is sick, and that it is so damned cold, but would you please finish the baby story. (Yes, I sometimes read the end of the book to see what happened. Not good on suspense.)

  9. BAH!

Your blog post title really did make me laugh out loud!

And although I haven't used an iPod, I have used a CD case. Because I'm old school like that.

  10. Okay, I admit. The ice scraper is one of the last things I put into the car. I'm constantly using credit cards. I've used tape cases before, but I've never thought about using an ipod. You are daring!

  12. Love it. Growing up in Iowa I did the same thing. Not sure why I never purchased an ice scraper.
